In the last few days before our transfer to Italy for the wedding, London was bombed by terrorists. When in Italy, I was confronted with the explosion of a family crisis. No matter how organised a wedding is, there are always external/internal factors that will make things different in the provisions or feelings of people. A coordinator knows how to keep going under any circumstances. So did I, even though I was the bride.

The biggest cultural difference was in the way we were expecting to interact with guests and what guests expected themselves to do on the day. RSVP was an unknown practice to most of our Italian people and communication was difficult to sustain, even with our parents. Not to mention, the fact that people just made up their mind on the day…

Being a bride in charge of the organisation of her own wedding, I can say that all the suppliers chosen were great help. DIY is good, as long as it does not compromise the integrity of the wedding day, as well as the enjoyment thereof. Money is irrelevant when it comes to saving the energy necessary to enjoying the day.
